Secretary of State for Scotland visits Green Highland Renewables in Perth

30 August 2012

Michael Moore MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, visited Green Highland Renewables in Perth yesterday afternoon 29 August.  Green Highland is the Scottish-based specialist in developing small-scale hydro electric schemes. Founded in 2007, the company has to date been involved in the development of more than 20 private hydro schemes for clients, and is currently also developing a portfolio of schemes in partnership with Forestry Commission Scotland.

Ian Cartwright, Managing Director, Green Highland Renewables, said:

“We are delighted that the Scottish Secretary came to see what we do, and to learn more about the uptake of small-scale hydro in Scotland – an important element for both Scotland and the rest of the UK in achieving their renewables targets. This is also a very exciting time for Green Highland with the imminent opening a new office in Inverness and the addition of more staff as part of our expansion programme.”

The Secretary of State for Scotland, Michael Moore said:

“Renewables lie at the heart of Scotland’s energy future as part of a balanced energy mix. These technologies are important to our future and building on the long legacy of hydro schemes in Scotland is an essential part of developing new energy sources. I was glad to see the good work happening at Green Highland Renewables on my visit.”
